Planned to comfortably welcome groups and individuals for a memorable voyage through the mythical Mekong Delta and its myriad of streams, the remarkable design of the boat allows it to sail up to the Gulf of Siam. Along this unique journey, exclusively offered by Phoenix Cruises, you will discover the daily life of the river bank inhabitants of the largest river of South East Asia, where farming are the means of livelihood of millions of people. You will also uncover areas renowned for their rich water resources and natural coastlines, where pirates, now peaceful fishermen, used to reign with terror for centuries.
Once on board, L’Amant classic 1930’s style will enchant you by its traditional decoration with carved wood and lustrous brass, as well as the refined and discreetly modern comfort, for an unequaled cruising experience.

A Colonial Style

L’Amant combines traditional boat-building with modern comfort and can accommodate up to 24 passengers in its 12 cabins to cruise the Mekong in luxury. Measuring 39 m long by 7 m wide, L’Amant cruiser was built in a colonial style. The vessel offers a large restaurant, a bar and a sundeck where passengers will be captivated by the serenity and the beauty of nature throughout the journey.

Air – Conditioning: your cabin is equipped with its own centralized air-conditioning unit which can be adjusted for your comfort. Note that the River breeze is worth trying at night! For energy conservation, please do not leave your air-conditioner on while windows are opened.
Each cabin is equipped and decorated in a delicate style. All the cabins are fitted with a wardrobe, a centralised individually controlled air-conditioning, a private balcony, a large glass sliding door dressed with curtains, a bathroom with toilets, shower and hair-dryer. All equiped with 220V sockets.

The restaurant offers buffets and à la carte gourmet menus in an elegant atmosphere.  The wine list will please the amateurs and delight the connoisseurs with its outstanding selections of grand cru.

Your daily schedule
when moored you are welcome to come and go from the ship as much as you like. Group shore excursions are organized by the ship crew and you will be accompanied by a guide. All guides services are provided in English. Please contact us for guides in other languages.

Every effort will be made to ensure that the published itinerary is followed as closely as possible. However, considering uncertain water level, weather conditions and other local constraints, all schedules and itineraries may be subject to alterations and delays at short notice. Guests are requested to remain patient and flexible as the river and sea conditions may modify the journey.
All passengers have the choice to either join a group excursion ashore or stay aboard and enjoy the relaxing fresh air of the open lounge or the comfort of the air-conditioned areas.

Our smoking policy
for your safety and comfort, we are operating a strictly non-smoking policy indoors. Smoking is allowed for the outside areas only such as the Sundeck and your cabin balcony.

Emergency Procedures
The ship is fitted with modern smoke detectors and fire alarms, extinguishers and water hose. Lifesaving equipments are all IMO/SOLAS certified. Safety instructions are located in every cabin and public access.

Life Jackets are kept in your wardrobe and also in the main public areas. In the event of an emergency, each passenger is requested to proceed at once to the muster stations indicated with signs to await instructions. There will be an Emergency Drill during your voyage.

On Board Bills
Except for organized evening cocktails and other events, you will be asked to sign a bill for all items ordered at the sundeck bar. A statement of account in Vietnam Dong VND and in US$ will be presented on the last day aboard for settlement.

Meals on Board
Generally, we serve breakfast and lunch buffets. Dinner is served at the tables with à la carte menu. We offer a blend of flavored Asian recipes and refined Western cuisine accompanied by a rich wine list. Season fruits, fresh vegetables and vegetarian dishes are always available. Special diets may be catered with advance notification and agreement.

Water, Towels and Electrical Appli
The ship’s water supply during the journey comes from ashore facilities. This water is treated to be suitable for washing and brushing teeth but is not potable. Bottled mineral water is provided for drinking, free of charge. To save water, towels will only be changed if they are placed off the towel rack.

The ship is equipped with 220 volts, with European and American standard sockets. Other types of electrical adaptors are available upon request. Hairdryers are installed in all cabins.

Laundry

A laundry bag is provided for your laundry needs and the laundry list is to be found on the desk. Your laundry is collected each morning when your room is made up and will be returned to you the following day.

Please leave your items in the bag provided and fill up the laundry list.

Security and Mini-Safe Box
When in port, a 24-hour security watch is on duty on the vessel gangplank and only passengers and authorized crew are allowed to board. Keep your cabin door locked when you are out and leave the key at the lobby reception when going ashore. All cabins have a combination type safe box. However, the company cannot be held liable for loss of money, jewelry or other valuable items from the ship or whilst on an excursion.

Intercom
An Intercom system is installed in your cabin. On board calls can be made from your cabin to other cabin or to the ship’s on board services. Wake-up call can be requested at any time.
Please advise the Purser the night before.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be – Vinh Long (L, D)
Meeting point: 7h30 at the lobby of Caravelle Hotel. Depart by coach around 8:00 am to Cai Be, in the very heart of Mekong Delta.

Upon arrival, board a local boat to sail through the canals and explore Cai Be floating market, an ancient colonial house and a handicraft workshop.

Embark on board L’Amant for registration and lunch. Early in the afternoon, board a small boat for a trip to An Binh Island. Then visit by bicycle the Tien Chau pagoda (ancient pagoda), fruits garden and witness the daily activities of the inhabitants. On the way, stop at an orchard to sample tropical fruits before continuing the journey along small canals to visit a bonsai garden.
Anchor near Sa Dec. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2: Vinh Long – Sa Dec – Vam Nao – Long Xuyen (B, L, D)
After breakfast, transfer by boat to the shore. This morning, visit of Sa Dec Town where some ancient colonial houses still remain, famous for its flowers and bonsais. This is a quiet town where French Writer Marguerite Duras spent her childhood. Discover the “House of the Chinese” described in Marguerite Duras’novel, L’Amant, and continue with the visit of the school where her mother was a teacher and scroll in the quiet streets to have a glimpse of the daily life of the locals. Return on board of L’AMANT for lunch.

This afternoon, a cooking demonstration will be organized for your pleasure. Experience the preparation of traditional Vietnamese dishes and enjoy eating them afterwards and Mekong fruits tasting or just relax on the sun deck.

For those interested, the Captain will show the cockpit as L’Amant continues her journey upstream towards Vam Nao. Anchor near Long Xuyen. Dinner and overnight on board

Day 3: Long Xuyen – Cai San Canal – Rach Soi (B, L, D)
After breakfast, L’AMANT will start cruising down another main branch of the Mekong (Hau River). Stop at Long Xuyen to visit by « Xe Loi » (Rickshaw) the city, its museum and its local market. Lunch on board.

Sail through a narrow river and be fascinated by the lively incessant crisscrossing of junks and sampans before reaching the peaceful canal Cai San to Rach Soi. Throughout the cruise, you will enjoy the facilities on board of L’AMANT while discovering the charms of rural life in the Delta. Arrive in Rach Soi later in the afternoon. Dinner on board. Anchorage in Rach Soi

Day 4: Rach Soi – Ha Tien (B, L, D)
After breakfast, depart by coach to Tri Ton, a place renowned for its numerous Khmer sanctuaries.

After visiting the Khmer temples, enjoy the local lunch Continue by road to Ha Tien to explore the small provincial border town with its markets and colonial houses. Dinner and overnight on board

Day 5: Ha Tien – Hai Tac Archipelago – Ba Lua Archipelago (B, L, D)
After a few days of sailing into Mekong Delta’s branch and canals, today, the sea cruise will start heading South East to the Hai Tac archipelago. Earlier known as the Pirate Islands, this archipelago used to be the home base of Khmer Pirates who invaded the Christendom of Ha Tien in 1778.

This afternoon, a cooking demonstration will be organized for your pleasure. Experience the preparation of traditional Vietnamese dishes and enjoy eating them afterwards and Mekong fruits tasting or just relax on the sun deck.

Visit of one of the island with its fisherman villages before continuing saling to Ba Lua archipelago. Freshly Caught Seafood. Dinner and overnight on board

Day 6: Ba Lua Archipelago – Hon Chong – Ha Tien (B, L, D)
After breakfast, cruise among the numerous clustered islets of Ba Lua Archipelago and discover the Vietnamese Southern coasts.

Stop en route for a stroll on an island and if the weather allows, drench yourself in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Return on board. Farewell dinner and overnight on board. Anchorage near Ha Tien.

Day 7: Ha Tien – Phnom Penh (B)
After breakfast, disembarkation at 8 :00 am and travel by road to the border. Go through the Prek Chak border gate in Ha Tien around 9 :00 am and enter in Cambodia. The Cambodian guide will wait for you, change of vehicle. End of our services.
